Origin and properties of the ingredients

Soap is made by boiling fats with an alkaline solution. Different fats give soap different cleaning properties. Coconut oil soap cleans particularly well even in hard water, while palm oil soap provides the necessary firmness and durability. Together, these soaps provide a base that allows the bile component to work effectively on stains.

Technical data

The soap is mildly alkaline when used. Exposure to light may cause its green chlorophyll colouring to fade. This does not affect its stain-removing action; the brownish colour that may appear is the natural colour of bile.

Store at 10–25 °C where possible. Keep out of reach of children.

How to use

Special product properties: A traditional, effective, affordable and long-lasting stain remover. According to the product description, it is particularly useful for removing stool stains from wool.

Suitable uses: For stains from fruit, blood, ink, ballpoint pen, grass, grease and more. Suitable for white and colourfast coloured fabrics made from cotton, linen, hemp and blends.

Application and dosage: Wet the bar of gall soap and rub it into the dry fabric. Leave it for 10–15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly or put the garment straight into the washing machine. Repeat if necessary. For heavy soiling, leave to soak overnight.

For coloured fabrics, test colourfastness on an inconspicuous area first.

Biodegradation

According to the manufacturer's description, soap reacts with lime present in wastewater and immediately loses its surface-active properties (primary degradation), meaning it no longer affects living organisms in the same way. Microorganisms then completely break down the lime soap into carbon dioxide and water (secondary degradation). Ox bile is a natural material that biodegrades within a few days. Soap is classified as readily biodegradable under OECD criteria.
